Occupational Therapy is a healthcare profession dedicated to helping individuals regain or achieve the ability to function more independently. OTs work collaboratively with clients to facilitate or maintain independence and wellness in one's life through functional activities. These activites or "occupations" promote and restore health to those where it is or progressively becoming diminished. We promote "live life to the fullest" to improve quality of life through everyday activites.
OTs have a connection to the remodeling industry as they can make recommendations based on the knowledge of assessing one's abilities to determine the necessary modifications for their home environment. This is focused uniquely on one's activities of daily living (ADLs) to enhance safety, independence, and comfort in one's home. Ideas are generated on creating a unique environment that is totally centered on the client's capabilities.
